Hi, I’m Courtney

eating disorder dietitian turned designer

After working with 100+ weight-inclusive practitioners and enough coffee to fuel a small village, I've learned this:

You don't need just a website.

You need someone who can translate your brilliant, overcomplicated brain into something that actually converts while you sleep.

Also someone who won't judge you for having 47 browser tabs open.

(Same, friend. Same.)

You’re probably thinking,
“Wait, how the heck did a dietitian end up here, building websites?”

Yeah, it surprised me too.
I spent years working as a dietitian: private practice, corporate wellness, teaching at UGA, the whole nine yards.
I was good at it. I genuinely loved helping people heal their relationship with food.
|| vickery ||

But I kept seeing brilliant practitioners with terrible websites.

People doing genuinely important work, challenging diet culture, supporting eating disorder recovery, helping folks find peace with food, all hiding behind websites that looked like they were built in 2004.

Or worse, hiring designers who didn't understand why diet culture language was deeply problematic.

I'd watch colleagues apologize for their websites. See their potential clients bounce because the site was slow.

Eventually, I got frustrated enough to become the solution.

Started as a side thing. Helped a few friends.

Then I realized I was spending more time building websites than seeing nutrition clients.

Turns out, my neurodivergent brain, the one that keeps 47 tabs open and finds websites genuinely entertaining, was made for this work.

So here I am. The dietitian who rage-quit traditional career paths to build websites for people who actually give a damn.

Things you should know about me

  • I have 34 browser tabs open right now
And no, I won't close them. That's where I keep my thoughts. Don't @ me.
  • I genuinely get excited about local SEO
Which my friends find baffling but my clients find useful. There's something satisfying about making Google actually understand what you do.
  • I can't watch anything with diet talk without screaming
"Wellness" influencers make me want to flip tables.
  • I know your ideal client has probably been hurt
By healthcare before. I build with that in mind.
  • I actually lived both sides of this
Eating disorder survivor turned eating disorder dietitian turned designer for eating disorder practitioners. The full circle is not lost on me.

Why Declet?

“Deck-let”

It probably sounds unusual, I know.

But I wanted a name that was unique and meant something to me. "Declet" (pronounced "deck-let") is a mashup of my children's names.

I know that smooshing two names together isn't revolutionary, but it felt right.

Plus, it's memorable. You're not forgetting a name like Declet.

Mission

My mission is to help weight-inclusive entrepreneurs & organizations promote their services in a strategic way without compromising their core values.

I understand that the appearance and composition of a brand and website can have an immense impact on how potential clients perceive you and your business, so I am committed to creating brands and websites that reflect our clients’ unique brand identity while conveying the important message that they value all body sizes.

Values

Weight Inclusivity

As an eating disorder survivor and dietitian who practices from a weight-inclusive lens, I only work with practitioners and organizations who practice and promote a weight-inclusive approach.

Integrity & No BS

I'll always tell you the truth, even if it's not the "salesy" thing to say.

If I think something won't work for your business, I'll tell you. If there's a cheaper way to do what you're asking, I'll mention it.

We don't lie or stretch the truth. Not for our own business, not for our clients.

Neurodiversity & Accessibility

As a neurodivergent business owner, I care deeply about creating systems, websites, and workflows that actually work for how different brains operate.

My goal is to design experiences that reduce overwhelm and make things feel simple, intuitive, and human—not just "pretty."

Because if your website stresses you out to use, what's the point?

Fun & Joy

Life's too short to work with people who drain your energy.

Part of my business philosophy: If it's not a heck freaking yes, it's a heck no.

This applies to projects, clients, and whether or not I'm closing those 47 browser tabs (spoiler: I'm not).

Why this matters

Because your work deserves a website that aligns with your values.

Too often, dietitians and therapists get pressured into cookie-cutter marketing advice or weight-centric messaging that makes them feel gross.

That's not what we're doing here.

We believe in weight inclusivity, neurodiversity, accessibility, LGBTQIA+ affirming practices, and the dignity of ALL humans.

At Declet Designs, inclusivity isn't an add-on. It's the foundation.

Oliver is literally my shadow and hasn't left my side in 9 years.

He's the unofficial quality control manager who barks exactly once when a website design is approved.

Or when the mail carrier arrives. Or when a leaf falls. You get it.

Chief Snuggle Strategist

Finn has very specific requirements for when snuggling must occur—usually right when I'm on a client call or in the middle of coding something crucial.

His timing is impeccable and his purr is worth the interruption.

She happily reports for snuggle duty at any time, but the moment Oliver makes eye contact, she transforms into a tiny tornado of playful chaos.
